The IRLRO central body organised special conference at Tambram-Chennai on 14 and 15th April-2010. This Special Conference of IRLRO was chaired by Hony. President Com. M.R. Sabapathy and other vateren Leaders of Loco Runningmen.
The success of 30+16 Hrs. Periodical Rest Case won by IRLRO, was cheered by one and all.
The special Conference concluded with the passing of resolution as under;
Major Demands affecting safety management of Loco Running Cadre:
1. 8 hours duty per day to all Railway men and to classify Loco running Staff as “Intensive Workers”. Considering Strenuous, and Un-natural Duty Hours Causing Inhuman Treatment to the Loco Pilots
2. Restoration of Negotiation Facilities to IRLRO at all levels for better Industrial Peace.
3. Enhancement of Rates of Kilometerage Allowance (KMA) as per Running Allowance Committee 1981 formula.
4. Grade pay of Assistant Loco Pilot to be fixed as Rs.2800/-
5. Disparity in fixation of pay scales to the loco pilots after 6th CPC to be removed.
6. Loco Pilots undertake highest operational responsibility during train operation over Indian Railways and considering the job responsibility, – Accord highest administrative Status on board a train as Train In-charge to Loco Pilots. Amend General Rules(GR) accordingly.
7. No Transport Operator (Except Indian Railway Loco Pilots) is allowed to Work beyond 8 hrs all over the world. A committee to be constituted to review the Hours of employment of Loco running staff considering the change in Speed, Work Load, System and Modernization. Also to improve running room facilities in accordance with change in climate conditions.
8. The Railway being the largest Industry in Asia consisting of 15lakh employees, it requires immediately to start Educational Institutions like Engineering Colleges and Medical Colleges in all the Zones in the ensuing academic year.
